Rushes Soho Shorts 2009

Penultimate few days

It’s been a busy final few days for the festival as we rushes towards the final day and the pink and blue mash up party! Tuesday saw one of the most anticipated events take place at the Movieum which was of course the Patchwork networking night. Patchwork organises informal drinks events in central London for everyone working in the video, TV and film industries. This year, Patchwork networking night is in association with the BSC guild, Directors UK, Fuji film recorded media and Pinewood Studios amongst others. There was also the usual mix of seminars and screenings of this years festival shorts.

Wednesday was a packed day for the festival with a varied spread of events. The Soho Film Lab seminars continued to be popular and seats were scarce for the 1pm talk but the presenters were also at the Apple Store in Regent Street at at 5pm for the Future of Short Film chat with a Q & A session afterwards. Wednesday also saw BBC comedy shorts present several screenings of popular and up and coming work. Meanwhile over at Stanza there was a screening session for Cinema Extreme which included the Award winning short film Wasp, starring Danny Dyer and directed by Andrea Arnold.

Thursday was the penultimate day of the festival and all eyes were on the awards. The three finalist filmmakers from each category were invited along, where they got to discover which of them won the award for their category in front of the good and the great of London’s advertising, TV, Film and Media industries.
