ADVANCED TOOLS OF DIRECTING THE CAMERA
– A WEEKEND MASTERCLASS WITH SIMON PHILLIPS
Friday 1st October 2010 7pm to 9pm
Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd October 10am to 5pm
Novotel Euston, London NW1
The Guild is now delighted to promote the second weekend master-class exploring the Tools of Directing – Directing the Camera. This inspirational workshop is built around a series of highly participative practical exercises where Simon Phillips guides each director and camera-person through the development of emotionally moving storytelling. To create a moving story, it is important for the director and camera team to share a common language, the tools and the skills to be able to create not just visually stunning images but ones that crucially create emotion in the audience.
These ground-breaking techniques give directors their own unique methodology, neither dependant on theories of writing nor acting, but relating specifically to the director’s craft, bringing new insight and clarity to the complex task of directing film.
Because of the one-to-one nature of Simon’s work, numbers are very limited, please book now to secure your place. Directors Guild and BSC Members are offered a special discount rate. As before, the Guild will be offering a limited number of heavily discounted bursary placements.
Simon’s methodology is gaining respect and attention world-wide – “Tools of Directing” has recently been selected for showcasing at the New Technology Campus at IBC 2010 in Amsterdam. You may also like to know that there will be a third in this series 12th-14th November on Tools of Directing – The Writer, and a repeat of the DGGB’s very successful introduction to Meisner Technique for directors by Stephen Bayly of the Actors Temple on 30th October – more details nearer the time.
This course is suitable for experienced graduates / working directors and DOPs and the bursary offer is open to all (not just Guild and BSC members).
