straight 8 Cannes Fringe Screening

straight 8, the film event that invites anyone, anywhere to make a three minute film using just one cartridge of Super 8mm cine film, without re-takes or editing – is back at Cannes Advertising Festival for the 6th consecutive year.

They’ll be showing the best of their 2012 entries made by people from ad-land, plus the very best films of the year, fresh from their 10th annual premiere at Cannes Film Festival.

straight 8 2012 is open now, at www.straight8.net/enter.html

The deadline for completed films has been extended to midnight on April 11th, so you can still enter and see your film for the first time in packed cinema in Cannes.

It’s happening on Fri 22nd June at the Star Cinema, 98 Rue d’Antibes.

Ed Sayers, straight 8 founder:

“straight 8 is a tough but exhilarating filmmaking challenge that all thrill-seekers really should try.  “Feel the fear and do it anyway”. I’m feeling it.  And doing it”

Joce Capper, Rushes MD:

“straight 8 is a must! The films submitted never fail to amaze you,  it’s inspiring to know that such crazy brilliance & enthusiasm for challenging filmmaking abilities exists. The fun is watching those filmmakers sweat in front of their fellow peers before learning if they have taken a risk too far or  discovering just how far one can really risk it.”

All profits from the screening will go to The Fireflies ride for Leuka, stay tuned to our social networks for ticket details.
