Our delightful friends at Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival, one of the world’s leading showcases and meeting points for emerging film talent, are launching the programme for their 18th edition over the next couple weeks. Information about the official selection films is already up on their website, with more news and the full festival line-up and schedule to be published online in early August. This year sees Encounters taking place in a new slot from 18-23 September. As always, screenings and events will be held at the Watershed and Arnolfini, located in Bristol’s scenic Harbourside, but they’ll be taking in some extra pop-up and alternative sites and venues – we’re particularly looking forward to finding out more about the ‘Cine-Sauna’.
Two main competitive strands of the festival – Brief Encounters and Animated Encounters – will bring together a total of 188 live action and animated short films from all over the globe. The festival has a strong international flavour, with total of 36 countries represented and a particular eye on the work of Finish filmmakers and animators this year.
Keep an eye on their website to stay up-to-date www.encounters-festival.org.uk.
