Events & Screenings, Film Festivals

The programme for the lovely UnderWire Festival 2012 is now live.

UnderWire’s founders Gabriella Apicella and Gemma Mitchell launched the festival in 2010 with the belief that women working in the UK film industry needed more encouragement and a bigger platform for their work.This year’s festival takes place 20 – 24 November, when they’ll be residents at the Ritzy Cinema in Brixton for the 5-days of the fest.

Some highlights include;

Tues 20 Nov: Opening Night – plus the XX Programme (films with interesting female characters at their centre) and free celebratory drinks in the bar.

Weds 21 Nov: The Art of Science – watch some weird and wonderful shorts about science, made by women, followed by a panel discussion and free drinks with scientists!

Fri 23 Nov: Live Wire – celebrating Britain’s smartest and funniest women, with the opportunity to meet young comedy writers, performers and film-makers for a night of live and filmed comedy.

Sat 24 Nov: A whole days worth of cool and interesting events, which will culminate in a party at Brixton’s Kaff Bar.
