The BFI has put up £2.5m to support 15 film and production companies via a new scheme, entitled the Production Company Vision awards 2013 – 15.
The awards will provide up to £200k per company for the next two years, allowing film businesses to develop new projects by maintaining momentum on development activity across a full slate of projects.
This is taking a cue from the UK Film Council Vision awards, which ran from 2009-2011, but the amount of money available has increased, and the awards are now accessible to a wider range of companies, including those with less experience than was previously deemed necessary to apply.
Animation studios will also feel the benefit from these changed guidelines and, providing that they’ve produced at least two animated short films that have received a recognised industry award or had a UK television transmission, then they will be eligible for funding.
Applications for the Vision Awards 2013-15 are now open from production companies with a viable plan for the development of their company. More information about how to apply and the Vision Award application guidelines are available here.
The closing date for applications is 5pm on 22 February 2013.
